About This Guide

What This Site Covers

Germany has made substantial legislative and infrastructural efforts toward accessible travel over the past two decades. The Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz (BGG), the Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz (AGG), and EU-level regulations all impose obligations on transport operators and accommodation providers.

In practice, implementation is uneven. Major intercity rail routes and large city hotels tend to have comprehensive accessible features. Rural and regional connections often involve older infrastructure with limited step-free access.

This guide focuses on what travellers with mobility impairments, visual or hearing impairments, and other disabilities can realistically expect, and where to find verified information before booking.
